Ricardo received his BA in Social Service in 1980 and his MA in Marriage, Family, and Child counseling from Azusa Pacific University (California) in 1983. After moving to the east coast with his wife, Ricardo became a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in North Carolina, where he practiced for 10 years. He was also licensed as an LMFT by the Commonwealth of Virgina in 2005. Ricardo is bilingual and bicultural (Spanish and English). In addition to his duties as an LMFT at RGS, Ricardo also practices as a co-therapist in an Hispanic substance abuse program.

For the past 20 years Ricardo has worked with children, adolescents,  adults, and families,    who have been struggling with various emotional, behavioral, and family issues. Ricardo has extensive experience working with child and family issues in an in-home setting, as well as in schools, church programs, and traditional clinical settings and also has experience as an adoption social worker. His particular expertise lies in counseling for family, parenting, and communication issues as well as those related to depression, anxiety, single parents, marital problems, and the elderly.

Ricardo is familiar with a wide array of services available to families and individuals, and can provide help obtaining these services as well as counseling in both English and Spanish. Ricardo lives with his wife and 11-year-old adopted son in Chesterfield county where they are actively involved with their church.
